Stomach Flu 2013

The stomach flu has been through our house (minus Jason) and can stay away forever.  I know it came from daycare as every single child there had it in some form.  Tucker started with it last Sunday, the 7th, with diarrhea.  Poor little guy had a bad case of diaper rash.  He didn't get over it until Friday/Saturday.  Cooper started in with it Wednesday night when he vomited in the living room.  He was so scared and would cry after he got sick.  He vomited twice that night and once in his sleep.  Then on Saturday when we had company in town from MN, I ended up getting sick and I finally started feeling better yesterday.  I took a half day on Tuesday to go home and take a nap since those are hard to do at night.  It was a nasty bug and I still can't figure out how our sitter hasn't gotten it, knock on wood.  I'm hoping the weather gets better soon so I can open the windows and let some fresh air in.  It still feels like winter with the heat on and the colder weather.  Granted, we're in the 40's and 50's, but it's still cool and I'm ready to see the plants start blooming and just see the sunshine! 

And here are a few pictures of the boys.  The first one is Cooper playing outside at Morgan and Hadley's house and the other two are both of them together.  Sorry for the blurry one, but Tucker looks like he's having a blast.  :)

2 Little Sickies :(

Tucker started the week with diarrhea, which he still has. Two nights in a row he's woken up because of it and there had to be clothes changes and bedding changes. One day he went through 4 outfit changes. Then last night, Cooper started vomiting and vomited once during the night. I've done so much laundry this week it's unbelievable. I took Tucker to the doctor today because I wanted to make sure he didn't have something that he needed to be on meds for and nope, it's just the stomach flu. He said kids have it for about 6 days and infants 8-9 days. Thank goodness we're almost done with it. Poor Tucker's bottom is so sore. But you'd never know either one of them were sick since they're in such good moods. Hopefully this icky flu is on its way out and my boys get over this soon.

Rollover

Tucker rolled over this weekend and we totally missed him in action.  Jason and I both left the room for a split second and when we walked back in, he was on his stomach!  I still haven't seen him do it, but I'm sure I will as he continues to do it more often.  He also figured out how to roll back to his back from lying on his stomach.  Fun stuff!

The weather this weekend was absolutely beautiful and we were able to get so much done outside.  Jason worked on the lawn and we played outside as well as went for a walk on the riverfront.  There were so many people out!  I know I've been itching to get out and just enjoy the weather and with it being in the 60's and 70's this weekend, I was definitely able to do so.

Yesterday was especially great since both boys took a 3 HOUR nap at the SAME TIME!  I was able to get outside and help Jason with the lawn, clean his truck out, and do a few loads of laundry in between with no distractions!  I was in heaven.  :) 

This weekend the Chillstrom's are coming down to visit and we plan on taking Cooper and Tucker swimming at the pool in their hotel.  It should be a great time and we're looking forward to seeing them!

Also, for family that hasn't checked their email recently, I sent one out on Friday about Tucker's baptism.  It's scheduled for Saturday, June 8th at the 5pm mass.  It will be at St. Mathias Church, which is the same church we were married at as well as where Cooper was baptized.  Check your email as I've put additional information for hotels in the immediate area.

Update: Jason

Jason and I met with the cardiologist yesterday and his initial thoughts are that it's not Jason's heart.  He does not want to do an angiogram, which is where they inject dye into your artery to see if there is a blockage.  He doesn't want to do it because although he does 4 a day, there is always a chance that something could go wrong and since he feels it's not necessary, then he doesn't even want to take a chance.  He has ordered a CT scan of his heart since it's less risky and we just have to wait to see if insurance will cover it.  We should know in a few days.  The doctor also told Jason that if he continues with his eating habits, he'll definitely be a high blood pressure patient.  His blood pressure while resting is okay, but his results from his stress test where he had to do physical activity showed his blood pressure around the 200's/100's.  So, he wants him to cut back on portions and lose some weight before he puts him on medicine since he feels at this point, it's not necessary.  I was thrilled to hear that he doesn't think it's his heart, but we'll have to wait and see what the CT scan says.  If anything, this has been a good eye-opener for the both of us and we'll both shed a few pounds in the process.

Prayers

Jason went about a month ago to have a physical done and labs done as well.  His lab results came back good and then since Jason told our dcotor that he was having chest pains, the doctor ordered a stress test for Jason.  When Jason went last week to perform the stress tests, the doctors and nurses questioned why he was even there because a) he's young, and b) his labs came back good.  Well, on Monday he received a phone call from a nurse that said his stress test came back abnormal, which could possibly mean a blockage of his artery.  We have an appointment with a cardiologist tomorrow to figure out the next step and see if he has a partial blockage and if he'll need an angioplasty.  Jason's extremely nervous and scared.  Please keep him in your prayers and hope that our appointment goes well tomorrow.

Back to Work

I started back to work this week and it honestly feels great to be back.  The 12 weeks I was able to spend with Tucker were wonderful, but it's nice to dress up, put make-up on, and actually do my hair every day.  I feel so much better about myself when I put the time in to actually look nice.  I had to switch my hours due to the daycare situation, so getting up every day at 4am is a little trying, but it sure feels nice when 2:30 rolls around and I'm walking out of the office.  The boys are picked up by 3:15 and I get to spend an extra hour with them.  I'll get used to it eventually, it's just new right now and I was used to sleeping in!

Cooper has had a few trying moments the past few days.  The temper tantrums are HORRIBLE!  I had to put him in time-out for 30 minutes the other day.  Yes, I know it was long, but I told him until he calmed down, he wasn't moving an inch.  I swear I tried every other tactic to get him to calm down, but nothing worked.  He threw a train track at his brother's head, pulled the computer off the table, hit me, hit the walls, and was just plain screaming.  I am crossing my fingers he's just tired from the time change (why do they do that anyway?) and it will go away soon.  :)  Yeah right.  He's been super sweet the past couple of days, and we're trying to really pay attention to see what triggers his tempers.  I know when he gets frustrated with something, it can lead to a meltdown.  He's a good boy otherwise, but I seriously dread the temper tantrums.

Tucker is giggling up a storm and he's soooooo smiley!  Happy, happy, happy!  He's such a joy to be around and we just love him so much.  His first week at Mary's has gone well.  Mary said he's really good and he's super easy.  I was hoping he wouldn't turn into a different baby when he went to her house.  He's just so easy going and loves to be paid attention to.  He'll let you know if he's not getting enough!

Jason and Tucker played outside last night since the temps were in the 40's.  Cooper got a John Deere tractor that pedals for Christmas and we haven't had a chance to take it outside.  He was so excited to 'ride his bike' and didn't exacting do too much riding.  I saw him pushing it around the yard mostly, but he's slowly learning how to pedal.  They walked down to the creek and Cooper loved looking at the watie (water).  It was so cute watching my boys playing outside together.  :)

We're hoping the temps start getting warmer as we're all dying to get outside more often.  I'm super excited to walk with the boys at the river front too.  Cooper will absolutely love it and I will too.  We've been cooped up for too long! 

Furlough

I logged into my work computer today and read the email I was fully expecting.  The General sent out an email to all JMC civilians stating that all RDO schedules (9 hr days, get 1 day off a week) will be suspended starting 26 Apr-20 Sept.  Everyone is to go to an 8 hr work day schedule and we are required to take every Friday unpaid.  Yes, it is money that I would like to be getting, but on the other hand, I'm trying to see the upside to this and I get to spend every Friday in the summer off.  It's not ideal for anyone, but we all knew it was coming.  With the way our programs were going at work, we knew there wouldn't be a resolution. 

Tomorrow is my last day of maternity leave.  I'm a little sad, but excited to get back into a routine.  Tucker is such a joy to be around and I have thoroughly enjoyed my maternity leave.  I'm so much more relaxed this time around.  But, now Cooper will have his brother with him all day, every day.  I'm sure he'll be thrilled about that.  :)

Cooper got his hair cut yesterday and it's cut like Daddy's.  :)  He looks so much older and not so much like my little guy anymore.  :(  Tucker's hair in coming in slowly and it's a little darker than Cooper's.  Tucker is smiling all the time now and he's sleeping through the night.  He started sleeping through the night at 10 weeks.  We put him down around 8:30-9 and he sleeps anywhere from between 6-7am.  We are thrilled.  Once again, it felt like this day would never come, but it did. 

Things are starting to get back to normal around here and we are enjoying our life.  Jason was missed a ton this week while he was gone for only 3 days, but it still feels empty around here when he's gone.  Cooper was so excited to see him this morning when he woke up.  We are always so much happier when Daddy is home.  :)
